Marty's relatives in Monroe County have included the Stidd, Richardson, and Sluss families all of whom have made contributions in a variety of businesses and professions.

Her upbringing in Ellettsville has been the foundation of lifelong friendships and she has passed the wholesome atmosphere to her two daughters, Teresa Hawk Dannels and Jennifer Hawk.

Her professional career has involved working in finance for many years, including lending, real estate, and appraisal. For the past 29 years Marty has used her skills to help families join the ranks of home ownership through her broker/ownwership of Marty Hawk Realtors.

Since 1988 Marty has served on the Monroe County Council starting out at-large (representing the county as a whole) and then moving on to represent the 3rd District. As senior member of the Council she has attended financial training for county officials for 17 years.
