Health Clinic

Today I have requested a year-to-date accounting of dollars spent on the new Health Clinic. There is no mention of the operating expenses for the Clinic in the 2011 budget so I have also requested a budget be prepared and presented to the Council for our consideration when approving budget appropriations.

It appears that our health insurance fund is being spent down at a rate faster than was expected, due at least in part to the expenses for the Clinic being paid out of the fund.

If the county moves money over to the health insurance fund in order to replace dollars spent on the Clinic, this needs to have a dollar amount attached to it and accounted for.

Perhaps we need to consider a line item under the Commissioner's budget to cover the Health Clinic expenditures, or preferably a separate budget, so dollars can be planned and appropriated.
